Dee (Daneeka) Black - Dee is a twenty-five-year-old Black woman who becomes involved in drug dealing out of desperation to save her fire-damaged house and support her comatose mother and struggling family. She is strong, authoritative, and a "control freak". Dee is pragmatic and resourceful, quickly adapting to the illicit business and excelling at its logistical aspects, such as managing finances and creating marketing materials. She is initially cautious and resistant to entering the drug trade, recognizing its dangers. However, circumstances and Bianca's manipulative influence gradually pull her deeper in. Dee has a complex relationship with her younger sister, Ronnie, as she tries to protect her from the dangers of the streets while simultaneously creating them. She is fiercely protective of Robert, her best friend, despite his self-destructive tendencies and their frequent arguments. Dee eventually accepts a partnership with Bianca, driven by the immense profits and the promise of a "legitimate" future. However, she remains wary of Bianca, sensing her ruthlessness and the inherent risks of their alliance. She is traumatized after witnessing Bianca murder Oslow.
